Powertrol's Pilot Monitoring System monitors flarestack pilot operations and provides you with a continuous output signal for efficient pilot control.Unlike most thermocouple systems, Powertrol's Pilot Monitoring System uses an infrared optical unit to determine pilot flame status. Flame status is then continuously transmitted as a linear signal. This versatile signal can function as an alarm for flame-out, as a trigger for auto ignition systems, as a regulator of fuel gas usage, and for recording/reporting purposes.
Powertrol's Pilot Monitoring System is equal or exceeds thermocouples for pilot flame monitoring and control. Infrared optical technology enables the Pilot Monitoring System to operate in a remote plant location, safely away from flarestacks. Installation is simple and quick. Expensive installation equipment is not needed. Unlike thermocouples, plant/flarestack shutdown is unnecessary for installation and subsequent maintenance, resulting in both immediate and long-term savings. The optical sensing unit of the Pilot Monitoring System is in full compliance with EPA recommendations for pilot flame monitoring and control. Developed from the successful Powertrol's Flare Stack Monitoring System, the Pilot Monitoring System is field-tested and backed with Powertrol's proven reputation. Because pilot flame monitoring is an integral aspect of efficient flame operations, choose Powertrol's Pilot Monitoring System for cost-effective compliance and continuous dependable performance |

Features of Powertrol's Pilot Monitoring System Optical Sensing Unit An optical sensing unit is premounted in the stainless steel enclosure. The sensing unit is filtered to a particular wavelength in the infrared spectrum. Multiple pilots are simultaneously monitored. Performance is unaffected by normal atmospheric conditions. An air purge systems protects the optics from dust and other atmospheric contaminants.
Indicator/Transmitter A continuous output signal is generated by the unit. Fast response time gives you immediate notice of pilot on/off status. A positive signal is provided when pilots are burning and zero when extinguished. The unit also indicates, by linear signal, other gases as they are burned.
Recording/Reporting and Control Applications The continuous output signal indicating pilot flame status can be used for reporting/recording purposes to comply with EPA regulations for flarestack pilot operations. Additionally, the signal can be used as an alarm for flame-out or pilots out. It can be employed to trigger automatic ignition systems. Gas escape due to flame-out is eliminated. Fuel gas usage can also be efficiently controlled through the use of the Pilot Monitoring System signal. Economical pilot operation is assured.
Installation and Maintenance Installation is simple, quick and inexpensive. The self-contained stainless steel enclosures mounts on a 2-inch, schedule 40 pipe. No plant shutdowns are necessary. No special equipment is needed. You save time, labor and money. Under normal use, Powertrol's Pilot Monitoring System will not require routine maintenance or calibration for the life of the System. Only occasional cleaning of the optical components may be necessary when installed in dusty or contaminating environments. The electronics portion is broken down into four plug-in circuit boards for easy maintenance, if ever required. |
